You'd think this would be the simplest thing in the world to find out, but Wikipedia and all other sources just mention the USA and Japan release dates -- not the European one. I have no idea why because I know for a 100% fact that they did release the Game Boy Pocket here.
As pointed out by Gizmodo, what truly makes this system stand out for the Game Boy Camera users is the addition of a microSD card slot. The company says this is primarily for firmware updates and the ability to share game save files, but it also serves as a way to save and share the images captured with the Game Boy Camera on version 1.1 of the Analogue OS. While not as simple as drag and dropping over wifi, it is still a very welcome update for pixelated photography enthusiasts.
Pocket Date Boy
At the time of publication, there is no official date for the release of Analogue Pocket OS 1.1 but based on the comments from the company, the new firmware will likely arrive in the very near future.
Analogue Pocket, the new retro console that aims to revive classic Game Boy games, already has a release date; This has been announced by its managers, ensuring that its new device will go on sale in May 2021 with reservations already available through its website, in addition to confirming news about the expected backward compatibility with the cartridges of the famous portable console of Nintendo.
Compared to the chunky, brick-like original, the Game Boy Pocket was truly pocket-sized and made the platform even more portable than before. Link cable connectivity was retained but the console used a smaller port, so Nintendo had to release the Game Link Cable Adapter to ensure that the Pocket could still interface with the original DMG-001 model. As was the case with the first Game Boy, Nintendo was quick to release a range of different coloured consoles, including a transparent version and the "classic" DMG-001 edition you see in the photos on this page, which was exclusive to Japan.
I totally forgot about this one.For some reason the fat one is the one that stuck in my memory - even though I owned the gb color pocket thing that was like a clear/purple case showing the insides.I played DQ I+2 and Crystalis on that thing. And some donkey kong country game.I remember bringing this camping in the summer of 2000.
The Pocket was the first Gameboy I owned. I got a blue one with pokemon red and my best friend got a red one with pokemon blue the same xmas. I still have the game but the pocket is lost, most likely between one of my countless moves.
I only had the original brick , and never upgraded to the pocket or color...it's important for younger folks today to understand that we did not simply discard electronics or 'upgrade' for the sake of upgrading back then. Also years 95 & 96 and on was when I started getting extremely interested in girls...all the video game playing was kind put aside for the remainder of high school at least for me.

Originally, Nintendo of America announced Pocket Soccer for a Christmas 2000 release date. That time came and went without much word about where one of our favorite games from E3 might be. However, a quick check of Game-Play Studios' website shows that the game is still in fine form and is about ready to be released in Europe on March 3rd -- and American release would logically be perfect for the summer, just as kids start kicking into AYSO. Keep a heads-up for more on Pocket Soccer soon.
As is, the Analogue Pocket is a work in progress. While Analogue has made some big promises for AnalogueOS, this software has yet to arrive. For me, this isn't much of an issue as I've been using modded Game Boys and flash carts up to this point, so the current experience is already a vast improvement., All the same, the incomplete software is something to keep in mind since Analogue still hasn't offered a date for the arrival of AnalogueOS despite numerous hardware delays.
I have been playing with the CSV data which can be exported from ScoutBook. Take a look at the screen shot of the PDF file I generated from a test date file. Would love to know your thoughts.ScoutBook835484 57.1 KB

That microSD slot is designed to allow you to update the system firmware as well as offload saved game files. But, according to Gizmodo, the soon-to-be-released Analogue OS 1.1 will add support for saving Game Boy Camera files to a microSD card.
